As well as the direct initiators, groups, foundations, non-governmental organisations, associations and all others committed to German- African youth exchanges also play a major part in the success of AGYI. Together, they promote exchanges between young people from Africa and Germany, continuously increase the number of participants, and provide support in developing a nuanced image of Africa and Germany, as well as sustainable global partnerships.
On the African side, advisory centres are being built in collaboration with the African Union, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation, GIZ) and three implementation organisations in Benin, South Africa, and Tanzania. They do not only advise and promote their own national civic organisations, but will also work on a transnational basis in the future. WESSA in South Africa for Southern Africa, the Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC) in Tanzania for East Africa and the network of the African German Youth Initiative in Benin (AGYI Benin Network) for Western Africa.
