The development of training modules for youth exchange and volunteer programs is a central objective of the AGYI Bénin Network.
The co-creative process with different actors of volunteerism takes into account not only the initial induction training but also mid-term and post exchange debriefing trainings and considers good practices.
The first draft of the training guide was developed in a first co-creative workshop held from 10th to 13th March 2020 in Cotonou. About thirty coaches and trainers as well as alumni from different national and international structures involved in the field of youth exchange programs and volunteering in Benin conducted in depth exchanges and participated in group work to define the main themes on which volunteers should be trained. These include alongside volunteering, aspects of interculturality, administrative procedures and the management of on-site stays.
In a second workshop from 1st to 3rd July 2020 the draft of the guidelines were commented and discussed and the contents finally agreed. At the end of the process, all the documents developed will be shared with all the actors of volunteerism in Benin and will thus form an integral reference part of all the services, tools and programs proposed by the AGYI Benin Network.
The aim is to subsequently build up a pool of trainers through the AGYI Benin Network, which will be part of the services offered by the Network and will also ensure the quality and sustainability of the joint project.
