While gaining visibility and building partnerships, the Southern African Alumni Network (SAAN) made the observation that alumni voices are given very little consideration on public platforms and are thus denied the opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of exchange.
Exchange alumni’s experiences are valuable and should be given the due consideration and included as a crucial resource in the deliberations on what aspects of exchange need to be improved.
The Southern African Alumni Network was officially launched on the 22nd January 2016 as there was a clear need for alumni support to be improved within the volunteer landscape.
The experiences shared by alumni not only help to strengthen the existing exchange programmes but are also a reliable tool to measure the impact of exchange from first hand experience.
In the spirit of ‘amplifying youth voices’,SAAN aims to use the forthcoming summit from 23rd to 25th October 2019 in Johannesburg as a vehicle to highlight these alumni stories that will underline the impact of exchange and give possible solutions to the relevant stakeholders.
If you are interested getting your alumni story published, kindly get in contact with SAAN until 10th September 2019.
