How do you motivate people to participate in an exchange? How do you promote a more realistic view on a country? Where do you find support and a programme that suits the best? Questions like these will be discussed during the German Protestant Kirchentag 2017 in Berlin. A special occasion will be offered by the theme day Africa on Thursday, 25 May 2017.
Two volunteers of the weltwärts programme, Shirley Ahiney Amartey and Hannah Fischer, will talk with Birgit Pickel, head of division 112, about their experiences during their exchange. This division of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is responsible for voluntary services and exchange programmes as well as the African German Youth Initiative (AGYI). Shirley Ahiney Amartey works at the International Christian Youth Exchange, an organization with expertise in guidance of African volunteers in Germany. Hannah Fischer completed a voluntary service with the One World Net NRW in Ghana in 2010/2011.
