The Southern African weltwärts Network is a network that acts as a collective decision-making voice of all Southern African host/partner volunteer organisations and thus strives to optimise the volunteer environment in Southern Africa, with a focus on weltwärts and potentially on other programmes. Since its establishment, SAwN has:
- Undertaken a learning and sharing trip to 5 Southern African countries over 3 months with the theme of “Strengthening the Southern African weltwärts Exchange Landscape” with the objective of understanding the volunteer landscape in Southern Africa to better meet the needs of host organisations (May 2019)
- Officially launched the Network (November 2018)
- Offered a capacity building workshop focusing on Resource Mobilisation (May 2019)
The Network is inviting the following organisations to become members of the network:
- Receiving and sending organisations • Hosting agencies within the Southern African weltwärts Network
- Coordinating agencies within the Southern African weltwärts Network
- Any other membership structure involved in youth volunteerism
